A night out in Twyford

Last night we had the fabled kedgeree, with a salad of course and my lodger had bread as well, he really likes the breadmaker bread. He is learning a lot of food related words, I think that’s the thing, learn words that you need and use, learning the word for Zebra, was not very useful to me, when I was learning Greek! I asked him if he would have the kedgeree again and he said he would.

As he wasn’t working yesterday, he went into Reading with his countryman who lives opposite, got a haircut and did some shopping. While he was doing this, a friend of mine popped in for a coffee and a chat, she does Wordle like me, unfortunately I told her yesterdays word thinking she had already done the puzzle! She had not! I did a walk, with my shoes on, trying to get the foot flat down. It’s a bit better now. I met the lady who also had a cage like mine on and we shared a few more moments of living  with it and the walking sticks, that always seem to fall down, however carefully you place them… In the afternoon the local council representative popped in to see how things are going on. He thinks the government scheme to have Ukrainians come here will be open for another year, who knows? The beds have also been changed, the sheets, covers and pillow cases washed and dried, ready for next time.

After this, my lodger did some workouts in our garden, he told me before the war, he used to take part in kickboxing. Maybe he can join a local club in the future. I started and got on well with the dog and pizza puzzle, the puzzle has a full sized picture of the puzzle, so you can cheat and place the parts on the picture, on the reverse of each bit is a pattern that you can use to make sure the two bits are right for each other…

After dinner we watched the second GBBO baking show. I explained before we watched it what happens. As the program progressed, I explained more. At one point one contestant took the biscuit dough which belonged to another contestant, which my lodger spotted and laughed, I then told him  a couple of other funny stories from other programs, like where one contestant put his effort in the bin and walked off!

On Sunday we are making the Sunday roast, I am cheating with the Yorkshire puddings. Tonight I am going up the road to have  dinner with friends whose chocolate Labrador I have walked and looked after over the years.
