Freedom is walking on just one stick..,

We had a nice meal Wednesday night, a Salmon in a pastry. A bit like a Salmon Wellington. We had it with the usual salad. My lodger  said that he often tinkers with recipes, I think he was warning me, that things might not always be to my liking. I told him if he could eat it, then I could! He laughed at that. I think he is settling in well, he often works through the day, and occasionally the evening. He is picking up more words, I ought to try and teach him some. I often look at the history section of Google Translate  to see what we have talked about.

I went to the physio Thursday, I did a little bit more work on the gym kit, bit by bit my walking is improving. It’s come along a long way since my stumbling efforts when we got back from Greece. At the end of the thirty minutes, my physio, showed me how to walk with one stick, unfortunately I have been doing this on my own, she was very pleased how I picked up the one stick walking, which is good. But outside she wants me to stay using two. I have also stopped wearing my sandals as they are very scruffy and I don’t think they are suitable for outside  walking anymore. The problem is the shoes I am now wearing have a different profile, so I can’t quite get my foot flat on the ground now. But I am sure I will, after a bit of practice and slowing down my walking pace.  I  met a lady I know, again I have not seen her since I got back, so she had a shock seeing my leg. She used to have one Beagle, who was the best behaved Beagle I have ever known. But she now has a second, he is related to the first and is not so well behaved. He is more like a Beagle!

After the physio, I walked to the local supermarket and bought a few things. I met the chairman of the local horticultural society, and his wife and we had a chat. I used the self service checkouts in the store, they are really not intuitive to use, it’s the way things are going, there are more of these self check out ones compared to staffed checkouts. Everyone says these new ones are just so awkward, the originals they had worked really well… After this I then walked to the Cosy Nook and had a coffee and bacon sandwich.

There was someone there that I knew, he also was not aware of my injury. There was also a young couple with a baby from Reading, trying the coffee shop out for the first time. Again the leg history had to be revealed. The guy had had some knee surgery so he sympathised with my problems. After paying, my friend picked me up in her car and drove me home. Hopefully soon I can walk to the village on my own. I will have to build up to that. I finished the meeting minutes off and sent them for approval. I have decided to start on my new jigsaw this afternoon.  Over the last few days, things have been disappearing. Of course they are still in the kitchen and it’s no surprise that my lodger doesn’t always put things back from where he found them. So I have been doing a full search in the kitchen and found some lost items. It’s quite funny really.
