Have your cake and eat it
On Monday after doing a walk to visit a friend and having a nice cup of tea and a chat with them, I went upstairs to rest my leg. I then heard the door bell go and I heard my lodger open the door to one of my neighbours. He did manage to explain that I was upstairs having a rest. She had a lovely fruit cake for us, and when I came down I saw it, and then opened it up. It was lovely and moist, and I suggested my lodger had a slice. He ate it and he said it was delicious! I explained that not many people make home made cakes anymore, which is very sad. It’s a nice cake but boy does it fill you up! He was off to work overnight to put Christmas lights up somewhere around the M25. That cake would keep him going until it was time for his sandwiches that he had made for himself.
In the morning he emptied the pond, removing the plants and water. I did not have any wellington boots, so he went in barefoot. So we are ready now to install the new liner and fill it up when the guys have some free time.
Meanwhile I am getting on with the puzzle and it won’t be long before it is finished.
Meanwhile while waiting for the nurse to come and replace my dressings, I made a Butter nut Squash, Chick pea and Spinach curry for dinner tonight. I will suggest my lodger has a taste of it in case he doesn’t like it. Curries are not something they get much of in Ukraine. Before I did this, my lodger came home from his overnight work and cooked himself a fry up, afterwards he went to bed and when he gets up, we can do some English. If there is time after the nurse comes I will go for a walk.
