In search of a Piri Piri wrap

This is the strangest cold I have ever had. I have a sore throat that feels like I have swallowed a load of broken glass, it’s really painful to swallow anything. I have an achy head and my  body feels just out of sorts. As I type this in, it’s raining cats and dogs, it was blue skies this morning. There was a rampant shrub to cut back which had invaded our greenhouses from next door, my lodger started doing that, but he has been in their hours and it sounds like he is tidying the shed also. He is going to get soaked when he finally comes into the house.

I was thinking about my last visit to the physio. There are little private consultation offices upstairs and after walking upstairs, I then have to walk along the length of the gym room to go into the one we normally use. The far wall of the gym room is covered in mirror glass. My physio told me to look up and see how I am leaning towards my good leg. This is natural of course, my body is just trying to protect it, although there is no need, it can fully weight bear.  So when I walk I have to try and do it in an upright position. After a bit of foot manipulation,  the physio had me go on the recliner I think it’s called, where you lay on your back and your feet rest on this bar. If you press down on the bar, you stretch a spring and your whole body moves. You start using both legs, then the good leg is lifted out of the way and you push against the  spring with my bad leg. This is obviously quite hard work, but it’s building up my muscle again. Finally I stand up while holding onto two vertical bars, and I then lift each leg in turn off the ground, when the good leg is lifted, again the bad leg is carrying all my body weight.

Back to today, I decided to have a Piri Piri wrap at the Cosy Nook. I had one years ago before I moved to Greece. There was a chap with his son I had seen before, and it was quite busy. This lady then came in, she had not been before, but she said she liked it. She ordered a bacon sandwich. My wrap appeared, it was super well filled and it was very tasty. I chatted to the lady a bit more, paid up and left. The owners were surprised when I told them I was walking back! I went to the pharmacy, explained my throat problem and got a spray. I then walked back home. I haven’t actually broken my distance walking record, that seems to have be 2.77km, which I don’t personally believe. It doesn’t matter really, I just know if I have a break I can walk to and back to the village. I gave my leg a good rest for the rest of the afternoon.
