Sold a pup?

So lots of photos, first of all the double orange cake that I made the other day. Unfortunately it’s sunk after cooking and after cutting a slice,  a stodgy underbelly was revealed. I checked online and perhaps overbearing  caused the problem in our food processor.

It still tastes nice, there is orange juice in the sponge and the icing has some in too. Meanwhile I have my two new sets of glasses and my teeth checked out ok and were given a clean. I did a bit of cutting back and tidying in the garden. I got a lovely surprise from my friends on Sifnos, with a personalised message on them. I have done a lot more on the jigsaw, and I have visited a few more friends around and about. One of them, the card maker, showed me with her card to me, what you can do if you are really good at making cards. The colouring on this one is all done by hand. She reckoned it took her a day.

The guy to fit the new internet came by, unfortunately the cable from the junction box to the house did not exist, but he ordered it to be installed the following day. I half expected them not to turn up, or another visit would be needed, but after their visit we have a nice new internet which works much better. It’s not using the old telephone cabling, it uses the infrastructure when the village was wired for cable tv. So it’s  much newer and better. The router is in the middle of the house, so no booster is needed anymore. I made another cake on Thursday, this time a ginger and orange. I beat the mixture  by hand and this time it rose and stayed in position and no stodgyness. The taste is also very good.

Having secured a pickup time for the second hand Kenwood Chef mixer, my lodger drove us out there Friday morning. It was only twenty five pounds. I said I wanted to see it work but the seller had it out in its box in front of his house when we had got there I  trusted him.. Anyway as we were in Windsor, I said let’s go and have a look. We had a good wander around the old town and popped into a Greggs, it would be rude not too. I saw this wonky building I liked.

As we were walking to Eton we went past this oriental food cafe, all you could eat for £10.95, it was a buffet, they had mussels in a coconut sauce among other things. It was really good food and excellent value I thought. Inside the old Royal station, now repurposed, was someone with some owls on display.

We then walked to Eton, and had a look around. By now  I had done my 5km for the day, I won’t do as much tomorrow. I think my lodger will bring his wife and daughter over to Windsor when they are here, and take them on the castle tour. When we got home I had a rest then came down to look at the mixer. I plugged it in, turned it on, nothing. Changed the fuse, dead as a doornail, that’s a pity. I am annoyed that I bought it on spec, I imagine the seller will say it was working. I will check it out again, then see if I can find someone to fix it, it’s is quite new, I got it for a song, so unless the repair bill is ridiculous it will still be worth fixing it. Oh I told my lodger the joke about the American who said why did the royals build Windsor castle under the flight path of Heathrow, he liked that!
