The great gig in the sky

Yesterday the kind lady who runs the Dog Palace on Serifos heard that her surprise to me had arrived safely, a lovely box of the best chocolates in the world from Switzerland, her country. I had sent her a surprise of my own, which had arrived but the labelling must have got lost, so she was ringing up her friends, to try and find out who sent her the After Eights bundle and ten pig ears, the latter for the dogs. Mystery solved then.

In the morning, I made a lemon drizzle cake, the top bit rose alarmingly, I need to check that for next time. Trouble is my tin was a bit small, so it was a bit of a squeeze. It’s best to put the lemony drizzle on when the cake is still warm, but I did not have that luxury, I think the idea is the sugary liquid has a better chance of drizzling through the warm cake instead of settling half way down. No taste test done yet.

I decided that I would walk to the Cosy Nook and get a wrap, if the projected rain appeared, I knew my HD friend was going to be there, so I could get a lift back home with her. I got there, had my wrap and a chat with the owners and then my friend dropped by. I had paid for her coffee, instayed to speak to her. A couple I had not seen dropped in, we ended up talking about musicians who died when they were 27. The kind folks at the Cosy Nook had some Nepalese tea, which they gave to me.

It did rain, but then dried off and blue skies appeared. I could not believe my luck, so I walked back home. Back home, I did the drizzle thing, and a few bits and pieces, before talking to one of my friends from Sifnos. I then had my first Dog gig since coming back here, as friends who own this lovely chocolate Labrador who I have known since she was a puppy were off to a Christmas party. Could  I look after her for a few hours? No problem at all except I can’t walk her, but that’s not a problem as she was having a walk with her dog walker earlier in the day. I got an excellent spaghetti bolognaise in the bargain, I use their recipe, it’s very good! Here is the lady herself, she got lots of cuddles from me! Sadly I have heard one of my other friends is in hospital, I hope she recovers quickly.
