Tourists in Twyford

My lodgers daughter and wife are here for a while before they move here permanently. Luckily he hasn’t  been working too much, so has been able to take them out, show them places. They bought me a lovely smart top, and a jigsaw puzzle infinitely easier than the snow scene one, he kindly bought me for Christmas!  We have had nice meals together and they are now a lovely family reunited, albeit not permanently yet. We had  Sunday dinner with them and the family opposite with their UK host family. It’s felt a bit strange going in the house with them, as I have been staying away, dog sitting. They have a dog, back home,  so loved my charge. I made them a Battenberg cake as I said I would, when they came over. They liked it a lot. My charge kept an eye on the cake making.

I have been to the gym, twice this week with one more visit tomorrow. It’s not my thing, but I do it because I know I need to. I have been meeting some of the regulars. At the house I am living in, there are some canes they want removing, so I will have completed that before I leave. Anything to try to build my stamina up. I did walk a long way on one day, I think it was nearly thirteen kilometres. I have backed off a bit now, on days I go to the gym and the gardening work. My physio has been showing me a massage I can do on my leg, the calf, to ease it a bit, help it stretch more. It’s funny how after the euphoria of having the cage off, you can feel a bit disheartened, progress seems slow. But I can get the foot down better than before. Given when I first saw her, I was on tip toes and the foot at a sideways angle, that’s almost two inches of stretch I have got back.

Today I did my tourist guide thing and showed them around the village. It’s quite interesting if you look under the covers, and we stopped off at the Cosy Nook where we met a friend of mine. They really loved the place. This photo is of St Mary’s where snowdrops and crocus abound. It’s not on the scale of Oxford that they saw yesterday, but still worth a visit.
