The biggest dog sit gig?

The wall by the allotment has a grassy bank along its side. Years ago this used to be a crop of nettles and weeds. But over a couple of years myself and another guy cleared it and grassed it over. There are a few clumps of bluebells by the wall, which I think look really good.

Meanwhile on the plot, I have erected my French bean canes, when it finally warms up, we will plant the plants from my neighbours greenhouse. The donated water butt is setup, it just needs filling when I am there one day. The beetroot is showing itself, no sign of the spring onions yet.

In the front garden, where we have the pond, recently  starlings have been going in and having a bath in it. Unfortunately I have not managed to get a photo or video of them doing so. They have also been feasting on the Mahonia berries which are now ripe and purple in colour ( also in the front garden) When the berries are all eaten, the Mahonia needs a trim. I met Monty the St Bernard dog who lives near here the other day with one of his owners, he had a facelift as a puppy as he had too much skin on his face! He is very gentle and huge. His owners might be going away this year, so I might be looking after him. I  bought some interesting, sunflower seeds, there is a narrow strip of earth between the TRHA store garden and the grass which borders onto the road, which is where they have been sowed. I did it a couple of years ago and it looked stunning. There were a few left so I put them in our garden.

One thing I really like about being back here is just meeting people on my travels. I cycled to a local Garden centre to buy those sunflower seeds, so when I went to the gym, I did not go on the bike. Before I went to the gym, I popped into the Cosy Nook, for a sneaky coffee, and I wasn’t allowed to pay for it as the kind lady who put money behind the till last time had done the same again! So kind. My Harley D mobility scooter friend was outside, about to go, so there was a quick hello to her and her dog. Inside a guy who lives near us, was having a coffee, so a chat with him. Then another CN local turned up, he has had leg problems, now he seems to have a knee trouble.

I decided to make another one of the Norwegian rhubarb cake that went down so well last time. I will give some of it away to friends nearby. Tomorrow it’s off to the  Depot, it’s only open a few days of the year.
