Busy bee

My life back in the UK seems to get busier every day. There were a couple of days when I was a little too busy and a cancelled appointment was a relief. Note to myself, don’t set yourself up with too many things every day, there will always be another! But it’s still fun, even if I am finding several people I know are having a tough time of it, but I am there to help them, which I get so much pleasure from. Fixing phones that are misbehaving for them for example. I have had two nice calls with friends on Serifos, hearing their news. The allotment is doing well, even if the spring onions are a bit patchy. The sprouts are in and tented under some chicken wire I found. Beetroot, Spinach, French climbing beans, Courgette and Butternut Squash. Not forgetting the four pound onions!

The good news about the allotment is that it is big enough to grow sensible amounts of food for me, on my own, but not so big it takes ages to keep weed free. There has been quite a lot of TRHA things to do, my shelf painting is over until I do the shelves on the other side, possibly, in a week ago. I have attended a committee meeting, written up the minutes and been looking for some bins to replace the dustbins we use to store bird seed and the like. The Sundays when the store is open are very busy, which is great to see.

My friend, who looked after me when I was back from Greece, who also did so over there and got me back here in the first place, that was not not an easy task. It’s lovely to have them here. Here is a photo of Terminal Two while I was waiting for them. Below are the two bowls I bought on the Arts Trail, for their birthday, they will go back to Greece.

Meanwhile one of my new friends, when they heard I was making a lemon drizzle cake, kindly bought me a jar of their delicious lemon curd. So I looked up a recipe for a lemon drizzle cake with curd but then found this recipe, which also uses courgettes, we had a couple going wanting. Here it is.

Finally back to the allotment there is a bath, that was put in the garden, it was initially used for a prehistoric garden, but it fell into disuse. I have revived it, it’s meant to be a boat now, with the masts and the rigging. It will have runner beans on it soon.
