Left Leg Blues

Just over two years after breaking my left leg, another visit to casualty, this time in the UK. I was working in the TRHA garden, I was nearly done and a pair of secateurs in my pocket fell out and the sharp point bit landed on my foot making a neat incision. I did not realise it at the time, but when I looked down and saw my foot awash in blood, I knew something was up. I sat down and tried to staunch the blood flow. It’s wasn’t gushing out but it was making a mess. I rang someone and he and his wife came over quickly. The question was, Henley  or Reading for a minor injuries visit? Of course it’s Regatta week, but the Henley traffic did not look too bad. After sorting me out and putting g a bag over my foot, so as not to make a mess in their car, off we went, with my dog sit with us. The traffic was quite bad, but we got there in decent time and I was seen quickly. I was lucky, as it had not severed a tendon, and after a bit of a clean up, local anaesthetic, stitches, I was good to go. Turned out one of the staff there had done something  very similar. The stitches come out in ten days.

The last week I have been looking  after this little rascal, and we have had a fun week. We have had some early walks, because of the heat. But he has been very good company and likes nothing better than messing about and pushing my buttons!

Last week I had two friends for lunch and I made a Smoked Salmon, Fillet Salmon and Prawn Quiche. The pastry was really good, I chilled it overnight before cooking it blind.

Some might remember I entered a Date and Walnut cake in the TRHA Summer Show. I did have recipe given to me by my neighbour which I did not have to try it first. But I just made it and it was far superior to my own recipe.

While walking through Sonning graveyard I spotted this tree with pretend Bananas in it. There is a bit of humour in Sonning, the bridge can often sport strange things like a red Royal Mail postbox for instance. We went to the  Village Hamper for lunch, the little rascal has been before and saw Guinea Pigs in the garden. So when we went in, he remembered  this and wanted to go and see them, he clearly fancied one or more for lunch!

Finally a parting photo of him again at the Bell pub, he loves it there but more so the Sausage Sandwiches and skinny fries!
