Happy Birthday
I did take the Cocker Spaniel and Chocolate lab to Marlow, not Henley as it was Regatta week. We went along the Thames river and both dogs took a dip. On the way back we went to the cafe that I went with my friend before and it was very nice. We went back to the Cocker’s house and then something strange but nice happened. When the Cocker was a pup, he and the Labrador played together. When I got back from Greece and walked them, they did not play together at all. But today they clicked and played tug with toys and pretend fights. It was lovely to see.
A few days ago I finished looking after the two French Bulldogs on Station Road. I have looked after them before and it was nice to look after them again. While I was there I blagged two utility pipes from the building work going on in the old Police Station. These pipes are going to be great at growing carrots in. They are bigger than the ones I had before so I think more than one carrot can go into each pipe. They can be cut lengthways so I should have at least four pipes. The pipes will be filled with good soil and no with stones in them, that can cause the carrots to fork. But it’s too late for this year.
On the Sunday I was invited to a birthday party of the family who own the Labrador. I decided to make the birthday person a carrot cake, a slightly different design but this time the icing covering the whole cake! This might sound easy, a turntable would have made it easier, but I had to use an upturned dish as a stand in. Also I had to use a pallete knife as a spreader and smoother, I think there is something else that would be better. I think another trip to the craft shop is called for!
Before I went to the party, I went to the TRHA store, there were some heavy showers, so I had to stay in the store until these had dissipated. I then met a friend for a coffee at the Cosy Nook, they have a new Detox smoothie on the menu, with mint, spinach among some of the ingredients.
Back at home, I took a quick look in the garden, and my goodness blackberries are ready now! Pick them just before they fall off the vine and they don’t need sugar. Delicious!
Finally before one of my neighbours passed away, he picked two Jasmine to grow on the pergola to replace the wisteria that had died. It is flowering beautifully and it’s growing up the pergola well.
