It’s been a busy day at the dog palace. They have a temporary lodger, who lives in one of the tavernas along the beach in Livadi. They are closed, are living in Athens, so he stays there in the winter. He barks a lot, which he does on the roof top of the taverna too. As we climbed up to the palace, the sea mist or fog was creeping in from the sea, and the wind picked up too. After a little while the dogs who live there, soon remembered me and it was nice to feel them happy with my presence. I ended up doing three walks to Agios Mamas, which is quite a long stretch, the dogs are all used to doing the walk with me to it.

At this point it was still clear, but the second and third walks, we were walking in the fog or mist and I fully expected to get soaked, but we didn’t. The earth world is slowly waking up after the rain, water is still tumbling down the mountains, into the reservoir but also unfortunately into the sea. Clover is abundant, but soon other flowers will appear. There are mushrooms and the ants are back with little ant holes sprouting up in the ground with a ring on soil thrown out to make the entrance.
After the walks we had our lunch and then I went into the dogs main bedroom for a rest. In no time Aloni, Rita, Chocca and Fritz were on the bed with me after cuddles. There wasn’t much chance for a sleep as it’s a constant reshuffle of positions on the bed. Rita snores like a pig! I had forgotten that. Suddenly I heard rain, it was going to rain after all.
After our mini siesta, it was time to give the dogs a good brush, then feed them and leave them ready for the night. In the evening, we were to go to a taverna that used to be run by a lady called Margarita, but her son runs it now. She was there watching over him. I know him because I used to tell him about scrap metal I found when I did my litter picking. The taverna is closed at this time of the year, but will open if someone they know rings them and they will open for the night. The menu is what they have, but they catered for our various tastes. Everything was hand made, the chips peeled and chopped by themselves for instance. I did have a little chat with him before my friends arrived, I got a glass of wine, was it his wine I asked, yes he replied. There were photos of what looked like his dad and grandad, yes that was so. They had this huge log burner, I sent a photo of that to my friends on Sifnos. It was a lovely meal, and not expensive considering the amount of food and wine were were given.
