Just kidding around

It’s New Year’s Day, so first Happy New Year to everyone. This morning we had Sifnos rescue out to reunite a baby goat with its parent. My friends spotted it in a nearby walled garden next to them, and both parent and child were bleating to each other last night. A rescue was attempted but you really needed two people to back it into a corner, catch it, and then reunite it. So this morning armed with my friends dog lead we went into the garden, musing how did the kid get in there when we found it difficult ourselves. We soon came across it, and got it into a corner, my friend lassoed the lead onto one of its legs and at this point it let out a fearsome bleating. In his arms it settled down and it was released near to its parent.

Last night we had a quiet but enjoyable meal with one our friends, beef burgers from the butchers we went to the other day, potato wedges, both cooked in the log burner. We had a tasty ratatouille and some nibbles earlier. We decided we would not be able to stay up until midnight, so after another the Christmas pudding, we toasted the new year in. I then walked back to my place, there were fireworks at midnight, but I did not hear them. The Christmas pudding when its brandy was lit had an interesting chasing pattern on it.

Back to this morning, after the goat reunion, we went for a walk as it was a lovely day. I think this is the first time I have not needed my fleece on. The other side of the bay is always warmer, that’s where the sun shines on. The dog, is allowed on the beach out of season and he took full advantage of doing so, by running about.

We then walked back, fed some stray cats for a friend and saw another one of the pottery owners cars decorated as he seems to do.

One last photo to show how nice it is here at last, it’s been well worth the wait!
